Author's Book Description : Falling for the boss has big consequences in this story that launched The Bourbon Brothers series by Reese Ryan.

Savannah Carlisle has the perfect plan. By infiltrating the Abbott family’s Tennessee bourbon empire as their events manager, she’d be one step closer to claiming half of the business they stole from her grandfather. Now, she’s not so sure. Because sexy Blake Abbott, heir to it all, is simply intoxicating. He’s supposed to be the enemy. But after one long, stormy weekend trapped with him, her defenses fail her and she gives into temptation.

Now she’s pregnant with his child...

From Harlequin Desire: Luxury, scandal, desire—welcome to the lives of the American elite.

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, Savannah wants to give her family a better life but while trying to unearth secrets she might just fall in love with her own enemy ...

First off, I want to state that this novel I originally read and reviewed in 2018, but because of recent life events my original review for this novel has been lost (find out the whole story on my blog). However, because I had read this novel during a readathon rating for this novel and a video sharing my thoughts is still available .... plus, it helps that I still remember this novel even though I read it two years ago. Therefore, my following review is based off of my recorded thoughts and what I can recall. Sadly, this novel was not one of my favorite reads and it is all because of Savannah. I just couldn’t enjoy her abrasiveness and how she went about doping Blake’s family instead of being upfront with them from the start. In truth, I wish she was more like (in personality) her younger sister Laney.

Nevertheless, what kept me reading this novel was Blake and his family. I enjoyed reading about the Abbott family with their easy comrade and all of their family eccentricities. Then while reading you witness how Savannah gets pulled in and falls for Blake because of who he is as a man, and for that I was charmed. I just wish she went about “her and her grandfather’s revenge” differently, especially since I can say “I was right” and so was Laney in regard to their grandfather’s stories about the secret. Overall, I just wish the major issues that the plot put out there were handled better.

Do I believe that Savannah and Blake cared for one another? Yes. It is a bit of an instalove romance especially since neither (mostly Savannah) are wanting a relationship to happen between them, so when “fate” pushes them even more together I liked how they finally worked it out in the end. If Savannah didn’t want her vengeance, I think their relationship would have been more believable from the start. Yet like I already stated, Blake is a fine man and an honorable one at that. LOVE him and most of his family as all of them made this novel.

Though this novel was not completely for me because of Savannah I still DO recommend it. I recommend it to those who like enemies-to-lovers contemporary romances, especially the ones that have a surprise baby thrown into the mix too.
