What makes this a must-listen audiobook?

Things happen in the Great North Woods. A blizzard. Child abuse. Lies. Things that go bump in the storm, and family dysfunction in all shades. Putting a face on the people who are caught up in sex trafficking keeps it real and unforgettable. Seeing prejudice at work in the simplest settings, even fictionalized, gives us all a place to talk about how we interact with it, whether we can see it or however we feel and react in uncomfortable situations. Although the situations are not clean and wholesome, the language and descriptions are kept to PG rating, and a few quirky characters show up to lighten the darkness.

Author Biography:

Lisa Lickel is an author, editor, and mentor who lives with her husband in the rolling hills of western Wisconsin. Surrounded by books and dragons, she writes inspiring fiction both short and full-length, including mysteries, romance and family drama, feature articles, and radio theater. She belongs to the Wisconsin Writers Association, the Chicago Writers Association and is a writing coach at Novel-in-Progress Bookcamp & Retreat. Narrator Biography:

Eric Allen grew up in an "advertising household". His father was Pres. and Creative Director of his own agency. Growing up, Eric was always recording and he started acquiring the pieces of his "home studio." He graduated from college with a degree in English and spent about ten years in Hollywood, working as a freelance reader and a story editor. After getting married, he and his wife moved to San Diego so that she could begin her dream job in education. Eric received an offer to produce business videos. As the videos were completed, his friends commented on what a nice voice he had. They then started asking if he’d "ever recorded any audio books." Which of course led him to ACX.
